Virtual Leased Line Service

O-Tel is planning the launch of its Virtual Leased Line service in November 2009. This unique technology to O-Tel in conjunction with a UK based company and Netgear (also UK Based), will allow higher level of voice service.
VLL is of two types. The single line and the multiple line.
Single line: This facility allows for a single DSL line to connect to the O-Tel Server.
It creates a virtual tunnel, similar to Diginet technology, and send and receives data at symmetrical speed.
A 384Kb/128kb line will handle +/-12 concurrent calls, a 512kb/256kb line will handle 28 concurrent calls.
A specially modified (for O-Tel) DSL router from Netgear is required to connect to O-Tel. The agent cost of this router is R999 ex VAT.
Multiple Lines: This facility allows the combining of multiple ADSL lines to create one big tunnel to the O-Tel Servers. EG, 4x 4mb DSL line will create a 16MB download link and a 2MB upload link, hence caterisng comfortably for 200 concurrent calls. It is virtually a large Diginet pipe. The biggest advantage is that of the failover capability. If one DSL line goes down, the line will be a little slower, but will still be active. If you have one of the channels on a 3G, WiMax, Iburst or WiFi connection (or any WAN connection for that matter) and your ALL DSL lines goes down, it will failover to the other WAN connections. Connectivity ALWAYS on.
A specific router is required for this service. Prices are to be confirmed, but estimated at RRP R10 000 + vat.
The VLL also uses ‘V-Header’ technology, where it modifies the codec to allow less bandwidth to pass through and at the same time increasing voice quality.
This service will set O-Tel apart from it’s competitors.
